| | We installed a geo-thermal system, when we built our house in 1998. After a couple of years, we started to notice a black edge on the carpet, under the register edge, and under the walk-in closet door, that has a register in it. We clean our filter regularly, and when I wipe down in the air duct under the registers, it doesn't seem to be dirty. We do have a humidifier, we use during the winter months, that is on the furnace. We just don't understand what is making the black stains. Also, during the heating months, I notice more of a black look on my dust rag, from the furniture and woodwork.
